TSS Backup Services
TSS Backup services are affordably priced and designed to give you maximum value. There are no long term contracts or expensive startup costs with TSS - and, we give you a level of service that shows you that we care about you, your business and your data. To make sure that we can provide the best customer experience for each of our customers, we do have some fairly straight-forward policies to consider.
Internet Connection
TSS Backup services require that you have an adequate Internet connection. While speed is not necessarily critical, it is important to note that the better your ISP connection performs, the better your backup services will perform. Cable, DSL, T-1 or FiOS are all suitable options (dial-up is too slow and just won't work). No special hardware or routing equipment is required - just access via the Internet to our secure web site.
StoragePC
TSS recommends that you deploy a dedicated StoragePC as a in-house target for your backup functions. This system is specially configured to receive your encrypted data locally. Utilizing this StoragePC is mandatory if you wish to backup any data from UNIX, Linux or AIX servers. If you are backing up workstation data only, the StoragePC is optional (TSS BASIC).
The TSS COMPLETE backup solution includes a fully configured, complete system deployed at your location. This StoragePC will remain in your office as long as you are using our service from TSS, Since you never have to "buy" it, TSS is responsible for any repair costs.
Customers wishing to backup data from UNIX, Linux or AIX systems, must be using Microlite BackupEDGE. This sophisticated, yet easy to use, backup utility plays a crucial role in your comprehensive data protection strategy. If needed, TSS can provide you with a license for this software.
Customer Contact
For security, administration and logistics purposes, TSS requires that each customer designate one or two people to act as "key contacts" for all matters relating to the off-site backup services we provide. Telephone as well as e-mail access is required. All information pertaining to TSS Backup will typically be directed to these key contact(s). These persons should be senior level members of your team that are capable of working in a trusted environement. Please note that certain security information (such as pass phrases) will be know ONLY to the key contact(s) - not even TSS will be privy to this information as it is critical to maintaining the highest level of data protection that you need.
Remote Access
So that we can manage and monitor your backup functions, TSS requires that we have remote access to your network - typically this is done through an Internet connection that allows us to take control of the StoragePC. If server data (UNIX, Linux, AIX and Windows) is being backed up, TSS will likely need access to those system(s) as well for set-up and configuration.
